Information on Hysteria
Hysteria is a very rare disease which mostly affects women. This disease is commonly found in people who have emotional problem and lack of sexual activities. Hysteria is such a disorder where one expresses excessive emotion and a person who cannot control his emotions at a given scenario.
Hysteria commonly affects women under the age group of 15 to 25 yrs due to bad childhood, lack of sexual activities and depression. A patient with hysteria typically exhibits the following behavior:
- Assume that he/she has got a physical disorder (leg pain, headache etc.) which may not be really physical phenomena. It is purely the patient’s perception that he/she is having a major pain in his/her body. It is absolutely an assumption (kindly do not ignore any of the grievances of the patients. Consult a Doctor immediately to find out the nature of the difficulty).
- Uncontrollable emotions or blowing things out of proportionate. The patient tends to blow even a smallest thing out of proportionate to gain attention.
- Overwhelming fear plays a vital role in the mind of a hysteria patient. A common fear which can be overruled easily turns out to be a major fear affecting the day to day activities of the sufferer. The reasons can be apprehended from the patient’s past events.
How to treat Hysteria
Treating Hysteria or controlling the hysterical condition is a difficult task not only to the patient but also to a Doctor. Consulting a Doctor at the earliest would be an ideal solution. Doctor may prescribe master Health check up to find out if there any physical disorders. Incase if there are no physical disorders the scenario can be considered as a Hysterical condition and may be referred to a Psychologist.
Adequate rest is a must for such cases. Doctors will mostly recommend the patients to sleep in a silent and dark room to get the composure in place and find out the right cause for a proper treatment.
Yoga and meditation may be an alternative treatment or can also be followed along with proper medical treatment. Shavasana is one of the simplest and effective remedy to such cases. Shavasana provides great amount of energy with limited movements and provides serenity to the healing mind.
The family members must ensure hysterical patients do not drink tea, coffee, alcohol etc. Healthy and a balanced diet is a must as the patient may be very weak. Proper sex education and sex therapy are very helpful in fighting against this disorder.
