A study on Split Personality
Split Personality or MPS (Multiple Personality Syndrome) are two psychic disorders which can occur to a person due to an impact of a trauma in personal life or a result of influence of a character within one’s mind.
Causes of Split Personality
The loss of loved ones, personal tragedies and horrific experiences may trigger in a different personality within one’s mind. Say for instance being abused physically (sexual) can cause a great amount of stress within one’s mind. In due course of time the person’s mind may initiate and create a sub-personality within him, giving him different attributes and result in a paranormal behavior.
Death of loved ones can cause a great amount of trauma. The subject would be obsessed with the deceased. He will gradually inherit the attributes of the demised person without the knowledge of his true self or the major persona. The other personality will show up its attributes from time to time in the sufferer’s life.
Not only death of loved ones or personal tragedies can trigger Split Personality but even influential thoughts.
Influence of Personalities
A very fragile mind tends to reciprocate the events that it reads about or sees in television or the events it learns from the news channel. For Instance:
A person can be greatly influenced by any personality which he is obsessed of and may tend to produce the same qualities of the personality by which his mind is influenced. In urban tale which is been said to kids in form of story can affect the kids’ mindset. In due course, the kid might react similar to the characters of the story. This in fact depends upon the kids’ mentality and may differ from one and other.
How to overcome Split Personality
The solution to such a major problem is the affected person should realize that there are so many sub-characters within him. The sufferer must be thought about the different personalities running in his mind thru proper counseling. The sufferer should be in constant state of awareness to overcome this disorder.
Psychotherapy is very useful in treating such cases. Consultation with a Psychologist and a proper counseling will help to integrate sub-personalities with the major persona. This is possible with the help of sufferer’s family members or friends as the sufferer may not be aware of the different personalities displayed by him.
